    Hi

    I have a website that i’ve messed CSS up and don’t know how get it back, if someone could help I would be very happy please.

    Firefox looks just how I want, but IE looks messy:

    All of the links like the page trail and the links at the static links at the bottom of the template and any links within the story are messed up, in Firefox they have not underlined at all (how I want it to be) just different colour and then underline if hover, but in IE they have all got big underline, thicker than normal. then if hover also another underline. It like they have border-bottom set, but none have???

    I have been through CSS and can’t see anything, anyone can suggest anything please?

    Thanks for help I hope!

      Err...was the CSS in its own file (i.e. mystyle.css)? Also, what’s the URL of the site? If you don’t have a URL that’s accessible, try attaching a few screenshots to illustrate what’s going on. smiley

          Without seeing your entire CSS file and the relevant markup that is generated, it will be virtually impossible to fix it. Despite that generalization, try adding an
          underline: 0 !important;

          to your rules that affect the underlines in the page trail and elsewhere.

            I’ve found out what it was, I’ve had this piece of code at the top of each template:

            <!--[if lte IE 6]>

              <style type="text/css" media="screen, tv, projection">
                    body { behavior: url(assets/js/csshover.htc); } /* hover:anything support */
                    #content { margin-left: 22px; } /* to avoid the BMH */
                    a,  a:link { border-bottom-style: solid } /* becuase IE just doesn't dot */
              </style>

              <script type="text/javascript" src="assets/js/sleight.js"></script>

            <![endif]-->

            I copied the original xMod template and changed it, I’ve removed that piece of code and the borders are gone, but not sure if it is important for other browsers?

            Any advise?

            Thanks

              That is called a conditional comment that will feed rules only to browsers that identify themselves as less than or equal to (lte) IE 6. It is a great way to handle the hacks for IE that are so often necessary to make it work, and is the preferred way that MS states it should be handled for IE7.

                ok thank you Ryan, I will do more reading, but think I don’t need this as the site look ok without it everything look same for Firefox and IE now.

                Thank for all your help.
