TinyMCE Revo converts newlines to empty paragraphs

I did a new install of Revo 2.0.8 for a client and installed the TinyMCE 4.2.2 Package like I have for several other sites.

This one, however, has caused my problems.

It seems, with no changes to the basic settings, to be converting the newline at the end of each line to a <p>&nbsp;</p>

It’s obviously applying the tiny.forced_root_block (p) setting but it’s treating line feed/line breaks as a text node for some reason.

As a result, whenever I open -> save -> reopen my document, it adds a new set of these tags for each line break in the document. After a few saves, I wind up with giant gaps between my actual text.

WTF?

I’ve checked my TinyMCE settings against another site and they seem to be identical. This behavior is not happening there on the same browser/OS.

Tried altering settings for removing line breaks; tried removing the value p for forced_root_block (in which case TinyMCE replaces it with a
in the editor, which is just as bad.

I’m using Firefox 4 on MacOS

Well, I force-removed the TinyMCE package and reinstalled it from scratch and it seems to have fixed my problem.

I am having the exact same problem however re-installing tinymce did not help. I can’t figure this out and it is making my clients site look awful.

The site is using Revo 2.1.1-pl and TinyMCE 4.3.0 RC2.

The settings I have are force root to p, and convert newline to BR. I have tried many different combinations of these settings but nothing seems to work.

Any advice would be incredibly useful!

Sorry for the double post but a slight update which only makes things more confusing.

I updated the site to 2.1.2 and the issue only seems to affect certain templates. This appears not to be the case My general content page is fine, I can make changes to the content and save without the bug creating the extra spaces. However if I edit other pages which use different templates the error shows up again. *Edit* I spoke too soon, some pages using the same template are fine, some are ruined by the bug. I have no idea what is different between pages that work and pages that don’t!

I’d love some help with this!
