File browser tinyMCE access issue

the documentation advises putting pdfs into assets/docs

but the tinyMCE filebrowser can’t navigate there. For links it’s stuck in assets/files.

i have a problem with several sites. I’ve tried all sort of permissions, the site/tools / configuration settings etc, to no avail.

while I guess i could you assets/files - i want to get these sites set up right so we don’t have to change all the links later

and just BTW what the heck is that assets/files for anyway?

Ugh... the current file browser implementation is less than optimal. Just work with whatever works best for you in light of the issues. Definitely on the future chopping block for reworking.

but if I can add one thing - as I’ve belatedly found a lot of the discussion in the file-browser section (i was searching badly). A lot of heart ache could yet be avoided if the documentation was clearer, and updated to reflect realities such as this.

I love this CMS to bits and I’m profoundly grateful for all the work that has gone into making it as great as it is, but I know I’m not alone in thinking the documentation may be its weakest point. I’d offer to contribute to that myself, but I’m really a front end guy, so I hope there is someone out there who can.
