File / Image Browser , component Integration Guidelines, coding conventions

Hi

can someone tell me guidelines to integrate external components for file/image browsing , or in general docs about integrating external libs , directory structure , convention, coding convention ? in modx ? I have already integrated TinyBrowser like a pre render page plugin onto TinyMCE via javascript, I would like to know security issues must be followed ... I will hope in the future a developer guide to help they have no time to deeply investigate the code ! Thanks
