That’s odd. When you moved the local installation to your server, did you do any sort of upgrade? And was this on a server that already had a MODx installation? Or was this for a new site? I’m half wondering if there’s duplicate users in the database for the user you’re trying to login as. Might check the modx_manager_users table and see if there are any duplicate users. If so, delete one of them.

Thanx, Jeff!
I have copied a site into a working directory from locall.
Imported base from dump.
I think, that the problem was in the incorrect coding of base when done import. The coding of a site - win1251. I separately imported an administrative piece of base in UTF, and the problem has disappeared.
I understand nothing in databases and php. From that all problems:-) I tried to correct some fields by hands, unsuccessfully -- the field with the password is ciphered.
Now all good. I’m not lamer, I know a little:)
Ahh...yeah, gotta watch that database encoding...definitely can cause problems!

Since this thread pops up high on the list when searching for "Incorrect username or password entered", I thought I’d make a quick comment.
The admin username and password that you enter when first setting up the site will NOT let you in to the regular site! To use this combination you need to go to:
yourwebsite/manager/index.php
For regular site use, create a regular username and password.
Maybe the last screen in install should have a notice to this effect in big bold colorful print so I won’t make this mistake again!

Or just yoursite.com/manager if your server is configured properly.
