Heres a real left field question laugh

Is there anyway to give chunks a publish an unpublished date? I want to put items on a page at a set time but don’t want to have to log in to do.

I know I could probably use a normal page and something like NewsListing list them, however each chunk would only have 4 lines of plain text and sometimes a right justified image.

It would be more work setting the page details that I don’t need like titles etc, than it would be copy and past the text into each chunk / page.

The page in questions is the course calender http://www.emanz.ac.nz/calander.html. Each course date would be a chunk listed under the month on the page.

Then as course dates pass the chunk would be removed, I cold also set futire course dates that aren’t yet advertised smiley

Templates should just be chunks that contain other chunks and all the "meta data" should apply to them. Or, I should say, chunks should disappear and all we have left are templates... people get that and it’s been discussed quite a bit.

            Not saying it’s not smiley
It’s the way I use them, especially since I come from textpattern which works just the same way...

Just having publish/unpublish for chunk opens new possibilies, is all I am saying tongue

Nice idea, and thanks for adding it to the tracker.

Hope it will be added in the roadmap for future release. wink

I really need that feature! I’m trying to replace a commercial CMS that does that - it’s a really useful function - you can leave the site to tidy itself up. Please re-prioritise it! Go on, you know you want to...

Couldn’t a TV with @DOCUMENT do the same thing? And have the document contain the chunk? The TV should check for the publish/unpublish date, I don’t know if it does that now. Kind of a kludge, but if the TV does check for a document’s publish/unpublish date when using @DOCUMENT it would fill in until the core feature is added to chunks.
