grab value and remove all spaces / or hyphenate between words?

Is it possible to use phx to grab a value and remove all spaces?

Eg: I want to grab the value "Days Out" and output "daysout" or "days-out". I can see that there is a parameter to remove extra spaces though not to completely remove all spaces or indeed hyphenate between words.
