Here is what I would like to create within the manager for the client:
A tab on the welcome screen (ie Company Information) that allows the client to update site wide information such as company name, address, phone, etc.
This information would be tied to individual template variables within the site template(s), or a better method if there is one.

Creating a tab on the welcome screen is easy. I can do that no problem. But I’d like to have just a simple form that they can enter in their company info and click Submit or Save. I’d like to be able to do this without creating a document, than using managermanager to cut out the stuff I don’t need.

Has anybody done this before or know of a somewhat simple way to do this? The only method I can think of is to create a document then use managermanger to hide all the fields I don’t need, and include template variables tied to the template of that document. I suppose this would work, but I would like it directly accessible via a tab on the home screen (next to ModxNews, Security, Info, etc).

I think it’d probably be worth your time to educate the client a bit more and then do something more conventional, e.g. putting the contact info in a Chunk.

Probably a bit late for you now, but I saw this article recently, which describes one way to set up a ’config’ page for editors. Sounds kinda like what you were asking for!
