    Hey all-

When I log into a client’s manager, I get the following warning:
One or more configuration details didn’t check out OK:

Configuration warning: ’Your site’s Unauthorized page is not published or does not exist.’

    What does this mean?
This means that your Unauthorized page is not accessible to normal web surfers or does not exist. This can lead to a recursive looping condition and many errors in your site logs. Make sure there are no webuser groups assigned to the page.

Configuration warning: ’Your site’s Error page is not available.’

    What does this mean?
This means that your Error page is not accessible to normal web surfers or does not exist. This can lead to a recursive looping condition and many errors in your site logs. Make sure there are no webuser groups assigned to the page.

At first I thought that they had just deleted/unpublished the page, but that’s not the case. I also tried to create a new one and save that as the setting, but that did not work either - I still get the config warning.

When you visit the site, you get this:

    ERROR: Too many forward attempts!

The request could not be completed due to too many unsuccessful forward attempts.

Any ideas? I don’t know whats wrong here, and obviously, client is very unhappy. Please help!

The unauthorized and error pages are two separate pages. Are you maybe confusing the two?

Do you have any Web or Manager document groups? If so, make sure that neither page is included in any groups. The behavior you describe suggests that the unauthorized page is in a restricted group so to when the user gets forwarded to it, they aren’t authorized to see it and get forwarded to it again - ad infinitum.

If everything else fails, try going to Tools | Configuration and setting both the unauthorized and error pages to the ID of the site’s home page. See what that does.

I had been using the same page for both the not found and unauthorized pages. It looks like the web permissions got messed up, and so the error pages (along with most everything else) was not available and it got caught in a loop like you described. Thanks for the response, it was a big help.
