My manager is complaining that using MODX is too complex to understand.

I’ve cut down the amount of things he has to see by making him an editor and only allowing him to add, edit data, and use a fixed set of WYSIWYG buttons.

However, he is unhappy with the design and wants it more simplistic.

He wants a design which removes the tree and puts everything in a tabular format, similar to this (see below image):

Is there a theme, or a way to restructure the way the manager is displayed to make it more easier to use?

    Thanks.

Just a suggestion: Redirect the user straight to the front-end and hide manager from that user.

If manager is too comlex to use even if all unnecessary tabs (user permissions) and document fields (ManagerManager) are hidden the user won’t propably need the manager at all? Or is there any particular reason why the user must use manager and not only the front-end?

With QuickManager+ and some creative use of custom button configuration parameter you can make the front-end quite versatile. Only thing that is missing from front-end is the parent selection, so it’s not possible to change document parent.

Okay, I will take a look into it. The only thing is the visual, the manager said the visual style is too scary, even if I cut it down to the bare essentials.

I will probably aim to do a training course + documentation because of the time I have for the project is limited to be totally redesigning MODX’s manager.

          Hi Lammikko,

Just wondering how I would go about doing this? All I need my user to do is add images to galleries via the manage gallery button so I just need to redirect them to the front end as it is.

If you could explain how this is done that would be brilliant.

          Thanks

Are you looking the user redirect or something else? You can apply redirecting user straight to the front-end from MODx manager: Security > Manage Users > User tab > Manager Login Startup.
