xml error

hi,

eveytime i try to create a new xml document i get the error:

XML Parsing Error: no element found Location: http://localhost/mymodxsite/index.php?id=4&z=manprev
Line Number 1, Column 1:

any ideas?

Dont know lot about it,

but make sure you selected the right content type (mime-type) "text/xml" , and the "Blank Template" inside the template drop down list.

yep i have done those..

in IE i get a slightly different message:

Invalid at the top level of the document. Error processing resource ’http://localhost/mymodxsite/index.php?id=5&z=manprev’....

not sure if this is linked but i have a strange bug where i can only access modx by calling index.php directly http://localhost/mymodxsite/manager/index.php and once i have entered my password and username i dont go into the manager i get a document tree view and have to click on index.php to enter.

What server-envoirement you are using ?

It seems a corrupted installation to me, or a server configuration issue.

hmmm, sorry to say that we haven’t tested MODx with PHP 5.1 yet.

I think the problem here is that the document you are trying to save as XML must have a valid XML header. Are you putting any valid XML contents into the document before saving it?

ah sorry i see what you mean yep thats fixed it! so if you apply no fommating it can not render it?

right, because when you send the xml content type to the browser, it expects a well formed XML document
