&inputHandler=`` with tabindex and jquery validate?

Has anyone ever had the need to add :

.. tabindex="1" value="" class="validate[required]" ..

within the input - the &inputHandler allows a certain amount of basic settings, but I don’t think this is possible currently?

Any ideas on how I might work around it greatly appreciated?
