      Hello!

First, I recently installed Modx and I must say that I am quite enamored with it.  I spent a lot of time researching cms after cms, but I was immediately impressed by modx.  My decision was made immediately.

On to the issue:  Install and setup went smoothly, but when I try using the blog feature I get the same type of error mentioned above.  I have installed MODx v0.9.1.  My hosting provider uses php 5.1rc1 I believe and some flavor of linux.  The sql database was created for me automatically when I signed up with them.   http://www.phpwebhosting.com.  I receive this error on Safari 2.0.2, firefox 1.5, and also internet explorer.  When I log into the manager after submitting the blog post, the page is not created.  However, sometimes if I log in later (say a few hours), the page will have been created.

I have not worked much with sql before and I do not understand very well what is going on here.  I am not completely new to cgi scripting or web design, though.  Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance, and I am happy to see the excitement growing around MODx.  You are creating something truly spectacular!

      Best Regards,

      John

        Hi didicom and meowmoe !

Please be sure you’ve done all steps given here http://modxcms.com/blog-tutorial.html

        OR

Do a fresh install, as current one seems corrupted.

If error still exist, then we would like to see your database table name list, as error shows, some table doesn’t exists.

        I hope this helps.

        regards,

        zi

          interesting error -- modx_document_groups

Why now would 2 folks have this error.

I agree with zi -- if you haven’t done too much to your site and can afford wiping out the db -- then do a reinstall.

hmmm, strange though, I wonder what these 2 folks do that created this error to occur?

Thanks for the input! I wiped out everything on my site, and wiped out all of the tables in the database, then reinstalled modx. I tried using the sample blog that comes with it and I am getting the same error as above. So...I have copied a list of my db tables. As you can see, the table in question (bogyethird.modx_document_groups) is absent, but a table titled bogyethird_document_groups does exist.

I should also note that whet I tried installing with Safari, Safari would crash every time I tried to type in my db name. So I installed w/Firefox, instead. This has happened everytime I have installed modx (4+). That’s probably another issue, but I thought I’d mention it.

If this info means anything to you, let me know. Thanks again!!!!

Finally someone repeats my Safari install crash!!! LOL

Actually, that’s a bug in Safari’s engine and JS handling, because it doesn’t crash nightly builds any more.

                hmmm, there you go.

The top line uses modx_ as the table prefix while the second doesn’t have a prefix.

I’m not sure why "bogyethird." with the period after it is there. I haven’t had an error with modx so I’m not familure with this type of notation.

                I’m sort of guessing:

1.)something is either up with your installation process ie, not using a prefix or setting it. I’m not sure what you did there.
                OR
2.) it’s something with your virtual host setup on your server.
                OR
                3.) I just don’t have a clue what I’m talking about.

However, I am trying to be helpful laugh until somebody comes along that knows more than I do comes along to help.

Could you explain what you did during installation? For the prefix I just set mine as "modx_" and left it alone basically.

@Ryan ... what do you think is going on?

                  that’s the database name.

                    Hi Ryan,

You helped a lot!  I reinstalled modx (again), and this time used modx_ as my table prefix (whereas before it was bogyethird_).  Then it started working.  Sort of.  I posted fine in firefox, but then firefox would not load any modx pages after I made the blog post.  Everything worked perfectly on Safari, though.  So I cleared the cache in Firefox and now everything seems to be working.  whew.

I’m not sure if the world makes more sense or less sense, now. but at least modx is back in operation  :D

                      @ Susan

Thanks for the heads up smiley

                      @ meowmoe

Glad that you got it working.
BTW, I’m using firefox 1.5 and have been playing with the latest camino. contemplating to dump firefox since it won’t scroll for me with the arrow keys (I have both arrows on the scroll bar at the top and bottom -- might be friggin it up.) I don’t touch safari since it’s a memory pig still.

                      Cheers!
