    Hello,

I’m having an issue when the customer logins in, the page hangs for about 15-30 seconds and then gives them a database error:

    A Database Error Occurred

Unable to connect to your database server using the provided settings.

but when you hit refresh or return to the home page, the user is logged in after all...

    Any help would be appreciated

First of all, you should really upgrade MODX to the current version of Evolution. Version 0.9.6 is quite old and there have been a number of security fixes since then.

Your problem might be caused by an overloaded database server on a shared host. I’d file a ticket with the hosting service.

Would that not also affect the manager login? because that is working just fine

It would, but It’s tough think of anything that would make any difference between the two, since both make essentially the same DB query to find the user.

The only difference I can think of is that any rewrite rules in the .htaccess file are in play for the front end, but not the Manager. I don’t see how that could affect DB access, but maybe someone else will have an idea.
