Paid Memberships

I have a client who has begun talking about wanting to offer paid memberships to his site in addition to signing up for a standard user account. Does anyone have any advice about how I would go about implementing this?

I’m using Revo btw.

I’ve got this working using Paypal.

- Register
- send username to Paypal (or user id, I’m not allowing change of usernames so it should be unique)
- wait for payment completion (IPN listener), make that username member of Paid user group
-- if you use different subscription levels it’s a case of adding in conditions to match the product/subscription (I think in PayPal terms it’s actually the ’item’) number
- if user cancels / eots then user is removed from Paid user group - but remains as a registered user.

The methodology would be pretty similar (I think) whatever payment gateway you use.
