[Solved] Blog user management

I need some advice/help with a blogging system.

First off is there a way to setup users with privileges to create a new document (blog) and edit ONLY what they author?

I know there’s NewsPublisher but I’m not a fan and would like to keep it in the manager. I have a role setup as Blogger with only permission to create a new document and save it. However when I login using a Blogger credential:

I cannot view an unpublished document (even though I have the Role setup to do so)
I am unable to use MaxiGallery Manage pictures.

How do others do this? I want to use Manager users for the messaging function and general consistency.

I’m afraid to enable Edit document because right now I’m not sure how to lock documents to only allow the author or Admin to edit.

Any insights?

UPDATE: I think I had some caching issues going on. I’m able to accomplish what i want. After thinking about it I don’t need the author to have edit permissions BUT I do need the author to be able to edit the images associated with the blog using MaxiGallery. I know I can use a comma deliminated list of user names for management but I don’t know how to find that name.

How do I take the variable [*createdby*] and find the actual user name to include in the MaxiGallery call? Currently I’m just getting an ID of the user using that variable which doesn’t work in MG
