    Hi Everbody,

for a whole day now, I tried to create a playground modx with manager user having access only to a certain group of documents/ resources (bye the way it took me 2 hours to find out that the in tutorials described documents are now called "resources").
As I understood the concept of manager users roles and resources is: I can handle WHO can do WHAT with WHICH RESOURCE.

Unfortunatly its not working. GGGGGRRRRRRRRRR and I dont no why?

I am able to control if a user can create, edit but for example not delete a document/resource, using the role.
Im not able to control which documents/resources. Every Resource refers to a resource-group, only one document/resource refers now to the group "playground". The manager user "X" has the role "read-edit", belongs to a user-group "tester" and is refered by the User/Resource-Group-links to "playground".
But if I login as this user I can "read/edit" all documents/recources.

I doubledoubledouble checked this since hours, but I cant find my mistake, if there is one.

Is this a big bug or what?
(if I switch the language to german, it says "this function is not working properly and still in work and is de-activated." In english language there is no talking of a problem. So is there a general problem?)

Thanks for input of every kind, Im desperated now.

      Hi again,
maybe I have been to chatty smiley (happens sometimes, sorry)

      To simplify my question:
is there a know problem with the manager-user - resource-group part?

I cant get it to work, the manager-users who are refered to a special group are still able to see and work on all resources.

Im thankful for every Idea or suggestions

The solution is to assign the resources to different document groups.

A manager user assigned to a user group is not stopped from seeing "public" resources; it works the other way around. A resource assigned to a document group can only be seen by manager users assigned to the corresponding manager user group.

Susan’s explanation is correct; there’s no known issues.

What is your setting for "Use Access Permissions" under the Tools > Configuration > User tab? What version of MODx? (And you may need to provide the info in the "help us help you" link in my signature, too.)

            Hi Susan and Ryan,

            thanks for help.

            @Susans explanation:
All of my resources are assigned to a group "private" or "playground"; none is open, so that should be right?

I try to provide as much information as i could smiley
            Modx Version 1.03
            PHP Version 5.2.13-0.dotdeb.0
            DatabaseVersion:5.0.51a-24+lenny3

            My Browser: Firefox 3.63
            Windows 7

Facing the problems I installed a fresh version using the sample website, I did’nt make any changes beside the manager-resource-stuff
I also have a version here on my local pc using xampp, same thing.

I guess it must be something stupid I forgot but i have no idea.

So here are exactly the steps after installation:
            1. Making a Manager-User "Erwin" with role "Editor"
            2. Making Usergroup "parent"
            3. Making Resource groups "privat" and "playground"
            4. Combining User "parent" with group "playground"
            5. Assigning all documents to "private" using DOC Manager (no recource is no open")
            6. Set on Resouce to group "playground"
            7. Checked the user tab "use access permission" is yes
            8. logged out as admin
            9. logged in as "erwin"

And "Erwin" can see and do everthing, (even if i chosed "Show protected pages" NO)

            Maybe Erwin is God smiley

            I really have no Idea

            Thanks

              Its so cool,

So knowing there is no bug, writing down everthing, I was sure there has to be a simple reason.
Thinking about "Erwin" being GOD, I decided to make a new user, a new user-group and a new group just to be sure smiley
And you know what, Erwin is not GOD, he just had a good relation to a "-"

(To keep it simple I told you the group calls parent but it was "back-parent")

And now I remember I read something to be very careful with "-" when you work with php.

ohohohohh, thank you so much for your time
