Rather than take up real estate in a sidebar, footer, header, etc. I wanted to implement a login form in Multibox. For web users I got this working, using the Personalize snippet and another snippet wrapping around a call to Weblogin.
I then found out that some functionality that was needed could only be achieved if the user was logging in as a manager. So I tried adapting ManagerLogin/LoginLogoutLink in the same way, with only partial success.
In the case of the webusers, I was not able to figure out how to tie the "Submit" button action to the closing of the overlaid window. In the case of the manager users, I couldn’t get a "silent" logout (i.e. one that occured without pulling up a document). Also, there seemed to be a blizzard of JS errors coming out of something Mootools related. (This is taking place on Evo 1.0.2)
My question : has anyone else tried to accomplish this sort of thing and if so could you explain how you did it? What I am ideally shooting for is a button that says "Login" or "Logout" depending on status and that when clicked executes the expected action. In the case of logging out, I’d like to do it silently, with a page refresh that shows the button now changed to "Login." In the case of logging in, I’d like the login form brought up in some sort of Lightbox-like overlay, which stays visibile until the action is either canceled or the login is successful. I’m not wedded to Multibox, but since it’s already being used for a video, I figured I’d use it.
Any thoughts, pointers, etc. would be welcome.
TIA,
MattC
