    Guys...
    I know the tricks are hidden somewhere in here.
    Search engine is dull.
    Will you share your bookmarked links to me?

    [tt]
    + Parent
    +-- Child 1
    +-- Child 2
    +-+ Parent Child 1
    +-+-- Grand Child 1
    [/tt]

    The editor 1 need access to Child 2, but not the parent nor Child 1.
    The editor 2 need access to Grand Child 1, but not its ancestors, nor its uncle level.

    Recently one of my editor tried to create new article, by writing down straight into the opened frame and changed all the parent content (remember, since 1.0.1, MODx does Edit Mode action as the default opened main frame -- this is not the issue of this post, since I’ve changed it back in the tree.php file). Doh!

      MODx is great, but knowing how to use it well makes it perfect!

      hey goldsky, you can use ManagerManager’s mm_widget_accessdenied for that ... actually i don’t think it’s bad that the ressource opens directly in edit mode ( best of course would be a configuration to either switch it on or off )

      ---------------------------------------------------------

      this could be handy too ...this plugin will only display the ressources ( as shortcut-links on the manager welcome page ) a certain manager user is allowed to edit: http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,43909.msg267042.html#msg267042

      ---------------------------------------------------------

      ( *edit: i’ll look into your permisson question ... okay i’ve got i setup locally like you want it, just need to comprehend how i did it smiley )

      1. def. you need to set Tools -> Configuration -> Show protected pages: yes
      2. setup a User Group and a Ressource Group "GrandChild1" and connect them -> User/Ressource group links
      3. create a new Role: editor1 and give him the appropriate rights
      4. create a new manager user, assign him to the role editor1 and connect him with the UserGroup "GrandChild1"
      5. open the ressource "Grand Child 1" and under "Access permissions" check Ressource Group "GrandChild1"

      when he logs in now, he should only be able to edit Grand "Child 1" ( tested it on a 0.9.6.3 installation ... hope all terms are correct )

      same process for the user that should only be allowed to edit Child 2

      ---------------------------------------------------------

      + something i found here: http://modx.cmsthingies.com/ ( since the site is down, i just attach the pdf ) "limiting_the_manager_treeview" / little hack in case you’re desperate for such a solution

        In Revolution, you can easily give users the right to see docs in the tree but not edit them (thought that probably doesn’t help you much). wink

          @sharkbait:
          thx for the link. I’ve seen it, but I think I need more.

          @BobRay:
          yes I know. I guess that’s why the core-dev-team leave the Evo’s permission development, since it’s too simple:
          * from tree.php line 400
          <?php if ($modx->hasPermission('new_document')) { ?>
              <td><a href="#" class="treeButton" id="Button3a" onclick="top.main.document.location.href='index.php?a=4';" title="<?php echo $_lang['add_resource']; ?>"><?php echo $_style['add_doc_tree']; ?></a></td>
              <td><a href="#" class="treeButton" id="Button3c" onclick="top.main.document.location.href='index.php?a=72';" title="<?php echo $_lang['add_weblink']; ?>"><?php echo $_style['add_weblink_tree']; ?></a></td>
          <?php } ?>

          Damn! I think I should dive into the code.

              I didn’t, but for what I read, I think it’s about making a whole different tree accessibility.

              I’ll try different way. Let’s see what I’ll get. I’ll post back here.

                wow shark,
                that pdf from cmsthingies is awesome...
                that functionality should be integrated to ManagerManager
                to complete a full customization of the backend...
