When I save a new web user, I get this message:
Can’t open file
However, when I go back to the Web Users page, the user I just created
is there, only their web access permissions have not been saved. I can select the checkbox again and click save, and this time it works.
I tried saving users several ways to see what is causing the problem. Password generation method doesn’t matter. It also gives me the same error if I do not select a web access permissions checkbox to begin with.
I was having problems saving anything with the MODx manager when I first installed it for this site. I did some research and asked my server support to add SecRuleInheritance Off to the VirtualHost entry in the Apache configuration, which allowed me to save templates, snippets, chunks, etc. The support person also told me this:
Additionally, if they’re using the CMS to write files, they may run into issues with file permissions/ownership; if this is encountered, please let me know and we can turn off PHP safe_mode and enable suPHP
I figured that enabling suPHP would fix the issue, so asked them to do that. The same thing still happens.
Any ideas?
