    I’m going to be working on a site that requires several levels of user permissions and management, and the administrator level would like to receive email notifications when the content creators put up content to review the content so they can log in, make any edits, and publish it. Is this possible with any existing extras or will it require some custom programming?

      It can be done with a plugin. It depends on the options, but a basic set up would email a user every time a page is new or updated. You need to filter on your criteria. User, template, document group, etc...

      Here is the plugin-code...

      	$to = "[email protected]";
      	$subject = " documents";
      	$message = "The latest edits.\r\n";
      	$headers = 'From: [email protected]' . "\r\n";

      $docLink =  $modx->makeUrl($id,"", "", "full");

      if ($mode ==  "upd") {
      	$activity = "Update";
      }else{
      	$activity = "New";
      }
      $subject = $activity . $subject;
      mail($to, $subject, $message . $docLink, $headers);
      $modx->sendAlert('alert',1,1,$subject,$message . $docLink,1);

      check off OnDocFormSave for System Events.
