When I try to login to the admin section I get a box that pops up with the location - IP address/manager. It never logs in. If I bring up another window to the front of the site and then go back and reload the browser window for the admin part then I get the main screen like you normally would. No errors in the error log.

Can you say a little more about what this box looks like (or provide a screen shot). Is it a new browser window?
Are you using Friendly URLs?
I’m not using Friendly URL’s. I’m installed at CrystalTech on a window’s box running PHP5 and MySql. I’ve used them for other MODx sites without problems. I installed 9.6.2 and then ftp’ed my changed files and uploaded a backup of my database to the server. Attached is a screen shot.
Can you replicate this behaviour from another computer?
Logging in on a different computer does the same thing.
I’ve never seen anything like that before. Did you do an upgrade install on the site? If not, try that.

Could you check that your file permissions are correct?
I reinstalled the 9.6.2 upgrade and it seems to have sorted it out. I think the problem started when I turned on log visits lookup domain name.
