user registration approval

I think I know the answer to this: Is there a way to require a new web user registration request to be approved before allowing the web user to login? I see that WebLoginPE has some extended functionality, but I don’t think it includes this capability.

The way to work around it right now I believe is to put them in a temporary "pending" group. To get them approved, the admins can change the group memberships. This should be a part of WebloginPE in the future I think ... sure would be handy!
