Greetings all. I believe others have broached this subject before, but getResources seems lacking in its handling of symlinks and I need to find a way to overcome it. A site which I’m currently working on has a handful of sections which contain a mix of symlinks and regular documents, all of which get pulled into a summary page (for each section) via getResources. However, as you may know, the data returned from a symlink is the target’s id, not its content.

    • To the group at large: Does anyone know of an efficient way of handling this issue?
    • To Jason C.: I’d like to lobby for full support of symlinks in future versions of GC. I’ve read some of your comments on other posts about not wanting to add overhead to the snippet. However, wouldn’t it be possible to check for the class key and substitute the target content (and perhaps a list of other target fields via a config var) for the source content? I realize there are certain data, such as the title or info to build a link, that you’d want from the symlink and not the target doc. (Granted, I don’t yet know Revo well enough to speak to this with any authority ... so please excuse me if my suggestion is off-base.)

    Thanks for your thoughts smiley

      I second this request. smiley

I have various situations this would be useful, since I tend to use getResources to create navigation through sites, beyond the main, top level navigation. I’d love to have symlinks be able to be used in getResources. The only solution to my issue that I can see right now is to create multiple resources, which is not ideal.
