Hi everybody,
I’ve just downloaded ModX and I’m trying to run the installation, but the install simply stalls.
I get to the point where it says ’Creating database ’modx’:’ and then stops.
No error messages or anything.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
PdV

The web server is installed on a memory key and is up and running with a couple of other php-powered sites working OK off of a database.
Anything else you’d like to know, just let me know.

Are you sure the database user you specified has "create database" permissions on your database server?
Hiya!
Yes it does. I only have two users registered in MySQL: ’root’ and ’paul’ (the default user for phpMyAdmin), both with all privelages.
I tried using both users for the installation, but neither worked until I created an empty DB using ’paul’.

Manually create the database prior to running the installer and let us know if that helps.

I believe this is actually a bug and should be logged in the tracker. If the database does not exist, and the user has priveleges, then something else in the install script is preventing the creation of the database container, and I experience this consistently on my local XAMPP installation. It may be another issue with the backticks syntax and the way the install script is passing it to the create table command. I’ll take a look if someone will open the bug.
I’ve seen this before and from the test I think it’s a PHP 5 bug (maybe 5.0.5). Once the create database function is called the system hangs up. If you even did a test for the create db function it still hangs up.
