I assume those are Template Variables from the Resource on which you have the getResources call being processed? If so, that looks valid to me.

Be sure to either prefix the TVs with ’tv.’ or use &tvPrefix=`` in the tag.

That is only for using TV’s from the resources you are retrieving in the tpl’s; I believe the OP was exploring if he could use TV’s from the Resource the getResources tag is being processed on to set the parents property dynamically.
Right, but since the OP also had &includeTVs=`1`, I assumed that the Tpl chunk uses TVs from the retrieved resources too.

hi, yes those template variables are from the resource where i am calling getResources. It doesn’t seem to be working - it is just pulling 3 resources in descending order. everything is published and not hidden from the menu. i have includeTvs in my call because there are other template variables in those resources. does that make sense?

in case anyone is interested, i was able to get this working by removing the &parents call.
