Getting Quip to Display Error Messages... or Success Messages for that matter

So, I am trying to incorporate Quip into a website, and it is going OK. I can post messages and all that good stuff.

What happens, though, when I try to submit a ’blank’ comment, is that the page simply reloads... if I leave out name/email/comment individually, the page reloads.

I see there are supposed to be error messages, but the documentation is a little thin... I see it getting set in the snippet code, but I can’t seem to access them at all.

What I would like to happen is, if there is an error, display an error message box with some details on the error. I just can’t quite get that to happen... I don’t really want to screw around with the snippet if I can help it.
