    I am working on a new site
    this is the layout (klick on it to see more)
    http://www.1-vision.nl/voorbeeld/graphx/index3.html

    the top menu is the part that I think is the hardest part to generate.
    I saw a part on the internet about the sliding door effect but i do not know if this is posible with this design.

    the hart part is the / that devides the buttons.
    I have a custum made ListGlobal menu snippet made by Jared that generates 3 differend style one befor highlited item the highlited item and the part after the highlited. I tryed thinking it out but will have a problem in the beginning of the first part or at the end when using slyding doors and a image containing the conecting part (the /)
    when i place that image infront of the first part i the highlight is good but the first item also has the same / infront and that is not what i want, i i but it on the richt of the items in the first part that the fist item looks nice but the highligtet part wil have a / left of it.

    maybe its posible to figger out in the snippet what the fist item is and the last item and gif those items an other style?

    The code for the ListGlobalSE:

    // ------------------------
    // Snippet: ListGlobal
    // ------------------------
    // Version: 0.6e-se1 - special edition
    // Date: 2005.07.01
    // [email protected]
    //
    // Snippet for listing global list of links or sections
    // (Published pages who's parent is root). Highlight ability
    // for current section.
    //
    // This edition was created for Dimmy who needed to have different styles
    // applied to links before, on, and after the active section link.

    // $node [ int ]
    // Id of what you want to consider the "root" of the site or section.
    // For instance, if you branch off several sections from the 0 root level
    // based on languages, you might want to set the language home page as
    // the root. Otherwise it will default to 0- which is the site root. It
    // will also default to 0 when 0 is the literal root. Settable in snippet
    // call with $LGlob_node:
    // [[ListGlobal?LGlob_node=7]]
       $node = 0;

    // STYLES
    // .LGlob_list    ul element of list
    // .LGlob_active  li of section you are in

    // -----------------------
    // END CONFIG
    // -----------------------

    // Override default node with snippet call if necessary
    $node = (isset($LGlob_node))? $LGlob_node : $node;

    // Determine correct node to consider parent
    $tempPageInfo = $etomite->getPageInfo($etomite->documentIdentifier,0,'parent');
    $thisParent = $tempPageInfo['parent'];

    // Change root node if necessary
    if ($node && !$thisParent){
      $node = 0;
    }

    $globalKids = $etomite->getActiveChildren($node);
    $sectionId = $etomite->documentIdentifier;
    while ( ($pageInfo = $etomite->getPageInfo($sectionId,0,'parent')) && ($pageInfo['parent'] != $node ) ) {
      $sectionId = $pageInfo['parent'];
    }
    // put all kid id's in an array so we can check for satelite pages
    $kidIdArray = array();
    foreach ($globalKids as $kidCheck){
      $kidIdArray[] = $kidCheck['id'];
    }
    $satelitePg = (in_array($sectionId,$kidIdArray))? false : true ;
    $currentMarked = false;

    $output = '<ul class="LGlob_list">';
    $globalCount = 0;
    foreach ($globalKids as $kid){
        $output .= '<li';
        if (!$satelitePg){
          if ($kid['id']==$sectionId) {
            $output .= ' class="LGlob_active"';
            $currentMarked = true;
          } else {
            $output .= ($currentMarked)? ' class="LGlob_postActive"' : ' class="LGlob_preActive"' ;
          }
        } else {
          $output .= ' class="LGlob_postActive"';
        }

        $output .= '><a href="[~'.$kid['id'].'~]" ';
        $output .= 'title="'.$kid['pagetitle'].'">';
        $output .= $kid['pagetitle'].'</a></li>';
        $globalCount++;
    }
    $output .= '</ul>';
    return $output;

    the above code in action: www.eljakim.nu (look at the line untherneath the menu)

    I could as Jared again but maybe its a nice thing for all of us exploring the bouderies of the cms and get it more flexible for designers like me.

          could you use a different image for the highlighted item, one that has the slant on both ends?

            that would be an option but not a solution,
            would be nice to see if we could concure this obsticle that way if we know how we can do this than we could create more and more nice thinks a bit more complex than just a standard menu.
