I wonder if someone can provide their knowledge and advise me what is the best way to tackle multiple content areas on the same page (template).

I have a 3 column design, the centre content div using the main Modx "content" tag is editable using the editor. The left column is my sub-navigation and in the right column I wish to include additional topics and links that may be used across a number of templates in that section or I may wish to have individual topics on a page by page basic (but using the same template as other pages)

Whilst you can have one main content area, editable (as I understand it)can you also have small chuncks of additional content that can be edited via the editor also?

Hope that makes sense but please let me know if you need further clarification

This is what MODx is all about. What you can do now is create two Template Variables (TV’s), assign them access to your template, and then reference them in your template, just like you did with the [*content*]. Now, when you edit the page, you have two new editable content areas.

NOTE: You’ll want to choose the RichText TV type, if you want to use an RTE when editing these areas.

        Thanks Jason,

I had it in my head that only one content section could be edited by the user. I am sure these questions must seem pretty basic to others. Guess I still have a fair amount to learn.

Thnak you again for a very quick reply
