The NewsListing snippet has a lot of options you can set when you call it in your template or document. To have more than the default 3 show, call it like this:

[[NewsListing?startID=xx &summary=10]] if you want to show 10 summaries on the page. (the xx is the ID of the document acting as the folder for your individual posts)

There is a list of available options in the beginning comments of the snippet itself.

If you are using the snippet that installs by default when you install MODx, you might want to check this for the latest version of NewsListing, as well as a discussion on how to use it.

You can make separate folders for each category and the DropMenu snippet to list them:

Folder "Blog" - the container for your categories:
        - Folder1:
        - posts in this category....
        - Folder2:
        - posts in this category....

        and so on.....
        Then use:
        [[DropMenu? &menuName=`catMenu` &startDoc=`ID_OF_THE_Blog_FOLDER` &levelLimit=`1`]]

i m just newbie in MODx and i m reading the "MODx Web Development" book.
i ve tryed to create a blog site by folowing these instructions:

          1. Click on the document and click Edit.
          2. Change the Editor of Document Content to none.
          3. Fill the Document Content with the following content:
          [!NewsPublisher? &folder=`PID` &makefolder=`1`!]
          4. Save the document.

i also changed the PID to the document ID which is used for the snippet call but when
i click preview i don t get the same result shown in the book’s screenshot:there isn’t
          any text input..

You could try using Ditto- I’ve set it up for a project recently and it works pretty well. There’s also a good page for it here: http://www.pogwatch.com/ditto.html
