Using latest version of ModX Evolution on Apache 2 with PHP 4 and MySQL 4.3

For the life of me I can’t make &validate produce fields that need to be validated. Here’s my snippet call:

    [!Jot? &subscribe=`1` &pagination=`10` &captcha=`1` &moderated=`1` &validate=`name:Please enter your name`!]

Everything else works as expected using a vanilla Jot 1.4 install. I read everything I could find on the topic (not much) but to no avail. What am I missing?

I think that Jot is confused of ambiguity of your validation -- your field is "name" and you have the same word in your validation message "Please enter your __name__". Try to change your prompt text.

Nope though it seemed an unlikely solution anyway as surely the snippet splits the validation message at the ’:’ character. Changed my validation text to ’Please work’ and still nothing.

I’d really like to hear from someone who actually has this working on their site.

Anyone else got any ideas or am I going to have to dig into the snippet code to fix this?

Yes, it was an idea, because it seems that you are missing nothing. I use Jot on many occasions. Sorry that the idea was wrong. The only doubtful point is whether you are handling captcha correctly, because Jot works the way that in the first pass it validates captcha, and, if it is OK, in second pass other fields are validated. Maybe there is no second pass..? Example for this behavior is on my site here: http://setpro.net.pl/software/modx-stuff#comments

As an experiment I pulled the snippet call out of the chunk I was calling it from and called it directly from the page and it worked - returned ti to the chunk and it worked - go figure.

            Thanks again for the help!
