    Hi there,

I’ve encountered a strange problem. I was using the ditto_blog template that comes with the install to set up a way for a client to add news items at

    http://wssunaa.org/index.php?id=81

Now as you can see under the comments [!Jot?&docid=`[+id+]` &action=`count-comments`!] is being displayed as opposed to executed...where as if I copy that exact line and replace both ! with square brackets (ie cache it) it works as you can see slightly below.

Hopefully someone has a tip as to why wink.

I haven’t used any editors at all for the entire process as they are prone to breaking anything with an ampersand in it in my past experience.

    Cheers,
    Taff

This is a issue with PHx.. Simple answer is that you need to have the page uncached and the snippet call cached. There is somewhere a thread about this thing, but I don’t remember where.

Thanks for the answer doze...but I’m not using PhX (if you mean the snippet)

I’ve called Jot uncached and it seems to have solved the problem, but will it update as soon as someone adds a comment?

        Cheers,
        Taff

It will update, so long as the page is not cacheable. And by installing Jot, you get phX, I believe.

That is something I can live with!

Thank you both for your replies.

Correct. Jot has it’s own PHx class what it uses incase the PHx plugin is not available. You definitely have PHx in use if you use Jot.

                Hi there,

Do you know if the new version of Jot or PHx will make possible to not uncache the page ?

I would like to make a blog with Jot but for now, that means that I can’t use caching on every page I want Jot... si let’s say all pages for a blog.

                Thanks wink

A new version of PHx would be needed, but I think that bS` doesn’t have time to that right now and PHx will be obsolete after 0.9.7 because it’s features are supported by MODx core (and I think bS` is helping with that already).. so I would guess that PHx will not be fixed anytime soon unless someone else takes a look at it.. but that’s just my guess.

But in any case.. I don’t think there’s much advantage in having the page cached when there is a snippet such as PHx that needs to run uncached anyways..

Ok thanks Doze for your answer smiley Do you mean that if I want to build a blog with Jot, no matter I have page cached or uncahed, it will be pretty the same thing for the server load (hum, not sure about "server load"... would like to say "charge serveur" in french but héhé... David if you pass by here, please, give me the word for charge serveur wink )

Let’s wait for 0.9.7 then as I don’t have (yet) any skill in php dev smiley

Yea, I think there wouldn’t be much difference in load times.. Depends ofcourse that how much snippets you have on the pages and their type, because everything will then be run on every page load.. eg. If you have some snippets running cached on purpose, because they run slow and needs to be updated only when documents are modified, like menu snippet, etc.. But getting just the document content from cache vs from database do not make much of a difference, unless the database server is very slow..
