    Hi Folks!

I want to use Jot on a german website. Do I have to translate all the templates manually?

    Bye

Japp! The language strings are hardcoded in the templates. Maybe http://babelfish.altavista.com can help wink . Or you may use my templates (see the attachement). Correctness not guaranteed.

Thank you, TDRWH, I’ll try it with your files!

But I think it would be a good addition for the next releases of Jot to create language files! Otherwise there’s content and layout mixed up in the files!

It actually makes sense to have the language files in the templates, as you can have multiple languages with different layouts for the same information. Think of RTL and LTR language differences. May be a happy middle ground though.

The templates are in essence the language files.

            Yes! a good point.
I will look the matter for portuguese, i plan to use jot, and i will translate every word i need.
I will use 2 base templates one for english (default at moment) and one for my language.
And i like the way modx is working...
For the two languages i don’t need to be worried with the translation! I will have 2 contents replicated in their language, the database works as it is, but i have some troubles in the manager.
I am using the native language in the manager, and i must be carefull when editing documents.
Title Type the name/title of the document here. Try to avoid using backslashes in the name!
Long title Here you can enter a longer title for your document. This is handy for search engines, and might be more descriptive for your document.
            Notice, in:

            Title:
            Long Title:
            Description:
            Summary (introtext):

I can’t put cão, i must use cão, if i don’t do that my backup will mess with that chars!
            For now my only point!
When i have done analising what to change to put all in my language i will post articles with the matter.
I keep with the idea that diferent files with language will do the trick, and it will be a matter of the developer decition to go for multi-domains or single domain option. In the first the deploying in single language in the domains the second a co-existance of that files in the same domain.
It’s hard! To make a single package with internationalization, but i believe in modx grin it’s more than possible, it’s a living fact laugh i am using a single domain and i will get internationalization.
This post problably shouldn’t be here my sorries, i got amused writing my opinion on internationalization.
I will see that german files of JOT to see what to change to portuguese.
Cya soon, do you know a JOT in portuguese already?
