Hello, I’m just wondering if there is an exaustive list of placeholders available to fully customise the output from Jot. I presume Jot uses a templating system similar to WayFinder, where you can specifiy chunks for the various bits of output (eg a chunk for the comments form, a chunk to format each comment, etc), and each chunk is comprised of placeholders and HTML code. However for the life of me I can’t find any information about the placeholders anywhere! The wiki lists the parameters & template parameters, but no placeholders. If someone could point me in the right direction that’d be great.

    Thanks!

Currently the list of placeholders is not listed on the wiki (good idea though) but you can "print" a list if you use &debug=`1` in the jot call.

Thanks for that. I had a look through the list that gets printed, but I’m not sure how to do what I want to do. Basically this is what I’d like to do:

        • List all the comments, then the comment form
        • Completely customise the comment form by writing my own HTML
        • Completely customise the comment template by displaying the user’s name, the date they commented, (if they have one) their website, and of course their comment
        • [li]Get rid of comment titles and anything to do with moderation or logging in or trusted users or the ability to edit or delete comments.

Basically I just want your standard blog, where I write, edit and delete posts and others comment (without the ability to edit, delete, moderate, etc their comments). I’ve got the blog bit set up (using Ditto), and I’ve got a link to the comments section of each post using a jot call, now I just want to get the individual comments pages right.

To do all that, would I use placeholders and chunk templates as I’ve described? Thanks alot for your help! I really do think this is a fantastic snippet(!), I just don’t know how to use it to its full potential smiley

Ok basically I’m just after a really good tutorial. I’d really like this ASAP, as I’ve got some urgent changes to make to a website. Can anyone suggest something? Thanks.

Using &debug=`1` doesn’t show the complete list. I found placeholders in the default template documents that don’t show with &debug=`1`.

IMHO it is a must to have a list of available placeholders. Jot might be a great snippet but it lacks a decent documentation.

I agree! I have this feeling I’m missing out on a lot of features because I either don’t know how to use them, or that they exist at all... wink

I’ll see if I can add some clearer documentation, where do you think the WIKI falls short?

A list of placeholders on the wiki would be a good thing.
