Ditto: Display latest post from a tree with level 3 submenus

Hi,

It’s me again.
I’ve got another question for you: is there a way of showing the latest post from a tree with level 3 submenus (i.e. 2 submenus)?
Take this example -

Products
>A product family
>The product’s children
>Another product family
>That product’s children

Let’s say I want to show the lastest one, whether if it’s published under A product family or under Another product family. How would I approach this?
My bet is on Ditto and pre-sorting on date before selecting any parent.

Try something like this (untested)

[!Ditto? &depth=`0` &orderBy=`createdon DESC` &sortBy=`myDate`!]

myDate is a Template Variable with
Input type= Date
Widget= Unixtime

Tried your solution but it didn’t work... Doesn’t the myDate just provide another date (from what I understand there is a "createdon" date whenever you publish a post)?
It would be ideal if there was a way of just selecting each level 2 submenu (Products > Product Family) then sorting out the most recent post among them.

Exactly what I was looking for, thanks. However I just realized that some of the subcategories have an additional sublevel (some are just PRODUCTS > Product Family > Product, while others are PRODUCTS > Product Segment > Product Family > Product). Messy...
