Stumbled accross
http://ditto.modxcms.com/tutorials/wordpress-style-archives.html which works like a charm off the bat, however it seems to be calling the ditto results by created on dates not publish dates. We have a raft of news items that need publishing in the past and generate the archive from there.
its my first time using it and i really do not have any idea how to change it form created on to pub_date.
reflect call is identical to one on the tutorial link above with a slight exception of sortby pub_date
