Ditto and user groups

Is there a way to make ditto show to the public, the introtext of aggrigated documents that are locked e.g in a private webgroup?

My aim to show news snippets but when the user clicks to ’read more’ I want them to register.

I’m in the middle of the same scenario now. I used webloginPE and personalize 2.0 to display two different chunks to the user based on whether the user is logged in or not. One chunk will have the intro text TV followed by the weblogin PE snippet call if the user is logged in, it will show the full article. The part that stumped me was that I had to have each article page set as uncacheable so that it would reliably display the correct chunk to the user. You can see a test example at http://www.fureyresearch.com/login-home.html. It was harder for me to deal with because I had the added challenge of dealing with each page having a downloadable pdf.

Test webuser login info to see how it works is:
user: tester pass:tester

Notice that when you hover over the links in the sidebar, you will see a link to a page that ends in .html but once you log in, the links point straight to the pdf. Click on the link titled "+

I would love to hear if I solved the problem in line with modx best practices.

I am able to click and download the PDFs without loging in. I’m not sure that what you had in mind.

The site is transitioning from not requiring a login to having protected content, that was why I wrote to click on that specific document; this page was the test case for the end solution. All the other articles are just weblinks that redirect to the pdf. I am in the process of turning all the weblinks into documents and the not logged in will see a page like http://www.fureyresearch.com/duplicate-of-3q09-quarter-end-letter-3q09s-keys-to-4q09.html.

Use the login info I provided in the post above and you’ll see how the setup works.

It has not been implemented sitewide.
