    MODx support folks:

    I have run into a curious problem concerning the management of web user access.

    I would appreciate your insight, advice, and/or recommendations.

    Environment:
    ============
    Windows NT 4.0
    Apache 2.0
    PHP 4.4.0
    MySQL 3.23.49
    Mozilla 1.7.8 / IE 6

    Steps taken in MODx Manager:
    ===========================
    [1] Administration
    => System configuration
    => User settings
    => Use access permissions = Yes

    [2] Users
    => Web permissions

    => Web User groups
    => Create a new user group = "Site Editors"

    => Document groups
    => Create a new document group = "Site Editable"

    => User/Document group links
    => Site Editors <=> Site Editable

    [3] Document Tree
    => select document
    => Edit
    => Access permissions panel
    => checkbox "Site Editable"

    [4] Users
    => Manage web users

    Here’s where the problem lies.
    I first see the panel Manage users and the selection for adding a New user (ref screenshot1.gif),

    When I click on New user, it produces an empty area in the manager like what you will see in screenshot2.gif. This happens in both Mozilla and IE.

    The JavaScript console in Mozilla does not show any errors.

    I would appreciate your thoughts on what I am doing wrong, or have misconfigured.

    Thank you.

      Unfortunately, I was unable to duplicate the problem. Couple of questions: What version of MODx are you using? What this installation an upgrade or a clean install? Also, is this site accessible on the internet? If so, I wouldn’t mind logging in to see if the problem happens remotely. One thing I would check is to see if all files for MODx are accounted for. If anything else, overwrite all the main MODx files just to be safe. My best guess would be that there is a file that either didn’t get updated, is corrupted, or simply isn’t there. Just some thoughts....

        Hi, Jeff

        Thank you for responding.

        I believe I have it figured out .

        Evidently, leaving the installer in place interferes with some operations, such as managing users.

        I had left the installer in place as a just-in-case measure. After all, I am still in the learning phase. Upon removal, though, it seems to be working okay.

        Might be worth a heads-up in your installation instructions for future folks.

        Again, thanks for your reply.
