Sorting by User Defined TV Date?

I have a TV date which is using

[+eventDate:date=`%m.%d.%y`+]

and I would like to sort by the user defined TV Date if possible..

Ditto Call:

[!Ditto? &parents=`4` &depth=`2` &total=`3` &tpl=`recentEvents` &tplLast=`lastRecentEvent` !]

Add &orderBy=`eventDate DESC` to the Ditto call.
