Calling Chunk using TV in Ditto

What I ended up doing was breaking apart the document and chunk that contains the dropdown TV, and making that it’s own separate chunk and it’s own separate ditto call. That removed the drop down from a document that shouldn’t really have it, eliminating confusion for the user. A little tough to explain here, but at least it’s working!

The main lesson I learned is that it doesn’t appear you can call a TV for a &tpl value within a ditto when that TV isn’t attached to the template that contains the ditto.

There is a snippet named getField that can go get document objects and tv’s from other documents/templates.

For designing the Editor Role back-end; ManagerManager is outstanding!
For designing the Editor Role front-end; PHx Plugin is outstanding! That is when using
NewsPublisher or NewsManager. Then PHx brings logic into your templates (as you were using joomla but with the difference you’re in charge of it!)

Great add-on suggestions. getField looks just like what I’m looking for in this situation.

ManagerManager looks ideal for prepping the manager for clients. I’m an ExpressionEngine user and there are things I do to make the EE manager easier to use for my clients. Glad to see ManagerManager makes many of these things available for MODx.

This is my first MODx experience. So far, so good. It just takes shifting some of my EE logic and relearning the MODx way of doing things. I love EE, but I’ve been hearing so many good things about MODx I couldn’t resist trying it any longer.
