Hi,
I tried to install modx, but it failed after the screen where you select the components to be installed, and where you can test the mysql installation.
Testing the mysql installation does not do anything.
I’m running Apache webserver 1.3.22 on Windows XP, with MySql 4.0.12 and PHP5.0 (using the mysqli extension).
The installation procedure doesn’t give me any error-messages.
Can anyone help me on this?
Where can I find error messages?
Do I use the right configuration (Apache/php/mysql/xp)?
Greetings,

I use Apache/1.3.33 (Win32), PHP/4.3.11 and MySQL 4.1.12 with no problems, I did have problems orginally when I tried Etomite with PHP5 (XAMPP) but that was with writting the tables, not testing the connection, and besides OpenGeek’s XAMPP install is working fine and this is MODx not Etomite
If you can connect to MySQL through another means, you know it is working. You could try looking at the MySQL log from the MySQL\data directory and see if there are any errors. If there are none perhaps check the Apache Server log to see if there are any PHP Warnings:

I will try to upgrade Apache and MySQL, then try the installation again.
Hopefully this works....
You shouldn’t need an upgrade to make this work. Something else is wrong; most likely some php or MySQL config settings. Did you check out the error logs from MySQL or Apache?

Jason,
I checked the MySQL and the Apache error logs. Neither have error messages.
The apache-log does have a warning:
[Fri Aug 05 22:09:41 2005] [warn] Loaded DSO E:\php\php-5.0.0-Win32\php5apache.dll uses plain Apache 1.3 API, this module might crash under EAPI! (please recompile it with -DEAPI)
I don’t think this causes the problem with the installation of MODx.
Also, with PHPMyAdmin I can connect to MySQL normally.
Furthermore, I can connect from my own php-scripts to MySQL.
Is there any other way I can check the MySQL-connection from the MODx-installation scripts, assuming connecting to MySQL is the problem?
