enter content into Ditto2.1

I’m very new to MODx and trying to find my way.
I’m using Ditto 2.1 and MODx 0.9.6.2
My template has a news area that uses the Ditto snippet, however I don’t know what I need to do to get content to appear in the news area.
Here is the code from the template:
[[Ditto? &summarize=`3` &total=`3` &startID=`2` &tpl=`news`]]
How do I get the content to appear?

I hope I’m clear, as I stated, I’m a newbie to this CMS and trying to learn it.

What is the content of ’news’ chunk ?

Well, I don’t know .... how would you enter content into a news chuck?

&startID=`2` &tpl=`news`

These are the 2 key parameters you need to consider.

The startId (which should be &parents in 2.1) defines the parent container document where the news articles are stored in (in your document tree you will see the id number next to the document title in ( ).

So if you have your doc tree:

Home (1)
About (2)
News (3)
-- article (5)
-- article (6)
-- article (7)
-- article (8)
Contact (4)

The parents parameter would be &parents=`3`

A tpl is a chunk so the format data is stored in a chunk named ’news’. Don’t worry Ditto looks harder than it really is. Check out the tutorial on Nettuts linked in my signature for a walk through.
