[solved] How to make Ditto work as repository-a-to-z?

ok i know how to use filters in ditto call and also i know how to filter by tv, but i don’t want my visitors to see ugly urls like

/brands.html?&ditto_filter=tvbrand,1,2

and i like the idea of repository-a-to-z.html?letter=A

how this could be done?

ok nevermind, it’s quite simple. i wrote my own extension.

It would be great if you could document what you did in case others need something similar.

actually it’s pretty straightforward if you have some basic php skills and understanding on how to write a custom ditto extender (this you can get by analysing example.extender.inc.php)

I did this a while back but rather than use a custom extender I used a wrapper snippet and packaged the a-to-z links together with the results. It is posted here: http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,29537.msg179588.html#msg179588

one big problem with modx is that there’re plenty ways to do something but it’s very difficult to find solution even if there’s one.
besides, i didn’t mean first letter filter, i meant any query string parameter which look friendly to end-user.

and btw why write wrapper snippet if we’ve got ditto extenders?
