Filter out dates with Ditto

Hello -
I’m currently building an event calendar where the client will add ’pages’ as event entries in modx. I am also returning a record set with Ditto in the JSON format to add some nice interactivity.

Is there a way to only return this months events?
Currently it returns all documents.

Also, the date is sorted by a template variable.
[[Ditto?startID=`2`sortBy=`Event_Date`&dateSource=`Event_Date`&format=`json`]]

How about using dateFilter extender ?

Hi -
I found this and started trying it out which let me to other questions and issues. In a nutshell - I’m not sure if its doing what I need.
I am basing the dateSource on a TV which is set to the Unixtime widget, so this should work - below is my code:
