OK, then scrap the previous snippet and use this in the sub parent:

return strftime( "%c" ,$date['0']);

You can call it in the same way as the previous one, it requires the &docId=`[+id+]` parameter in the call in order to set the parent id. Again you can format the output by editing the strftime() line.
