New Ditto Extender Request

I was thinking a new extender for ditto would be nice. This topic here explains more about it. Basically, a simple "search" extender would be great to have. Where Ditto could search document content for search terms and return results based on a search. Right now I’m using Ditto to do this using many TVs based on the tagging approach - it’s working just fine. However, the problem is that it’s time intensive to maintain and expand, especially for clients. It would be fabulous to have a call like this:


So, instead of having to tag every document with multiple tags we could do a simple search and find all content that has "search term" and return three results. Just a thought. Let me know if I’m crazy and it’s not a good idea.

TVExplorer is a fabulous tool, but wouldn’t work for what I was thinking of. It’s actually a very simple concept, but seems difficult to pull off. Basically, I want to pull in any document from a number a specified sources to create a small list of relevant items. The idea is explained in more detail in the post listed above. But, I have a product page that I want to search for any document that makes mention of the product. Right now I’m using ditto with good results and it’s working fine, but the idea is to make it less complicated and easier to implement. Because, I’ve got to tag every single document with the tags I want to use or have it be associated with and when there’s a new product I’ll have to add more tags. I would like the simple functionality of a search to be implemented into ditto. So, when the page is called a quick search is done and returns the top 3 articles, blog posts, or news items that pertain to the product. Does that make sense?
