[SOLVED] Ditto Help - Short Simple Code to Summarize Blog Entries

Hello,


I have lots of ditto questions, I cant find a one-stop doc that would teach me how to use all the parameters.


I am wanting to write a TV that would do this:


In a small section of the front page, the TV would call a list of blog titles from blogs that are contained in a container document which has id number [~2~]. Because this section is small in size, it should only call the most recent 3 blog titles and a truncated amount of text from each blog entry.


Container document 2 is already showing a summary of blog titles thanks to this ditto implementation:




I am wondering will this do it?




Is there a way to show a truncated amount of text also?


What exactly do these parameters do?

startID
parents
summarize (this means number of results per page correct?)
removeChunk (I get that this removes comments, is there anything else I can remove?)
paginate
extenders
tagData


Is the template `ditto_blog` a chunk that I can replace with my own chunk css code that I can name anything?


Will this automatically sort by newest?

Bill Fernandez put together a very coherent document for Ditto. I suggest you read it thoroughly and then visit the ditto link Mark left.

Most of Bill’s documentation has now been incorporated into the Ditto support site (with attribution of course) and any errors corrected.

Thanks. Bill’s document is really good. Went right to the necc. info., makes sense to me. I’m going to mark this thread solved. I’ll reopen it if I have more questions.

Yeah, no problem his documentation helped me out a lot too. It prepped me for what I was looking at on the ditto site. It just made it easier to digest all the information.

I’ve noticed the difference in the ditto site. You’ve done a great job integrating his stuff into ditto.modxcms.com. For me, Bill’s document was a lifesaver, because I went to the ditto site and couldn’t really grasp it all until I read that doc. BTW, ditto is AMAZING! I use it all the time and on all my sites. Don’t know what I’d do without it. Thanks for all you do.
