Need help with ditto install

    Hello, i am a total newbie when it comes to modx
    And i am more then a little flustered right now.. i am not new to cms’s
    So the fact that i have screwed up something so simple has me pulling hair...

    Ok...
    I came across Modx a few days ago when my host installed simple scripts into my cpanel,
    and i thought i would give it a go...

    Now, i have run nuke and other cms’s... i had no problems with their mods.. and it was easy enough to follow along in the set up instructions
    (which, if you have ever played with nuke know are much more complicated then this one is...)
    Sadly they were not what i needed, modx seems to have what i need tho, blogging tools, static look to pages, and a website look
    were as nuke was more a portal look..and it was just way to bloated for me..modx is sleek, looks great, and the control panel is not too complex
    So i really really want to learn this stuff, and have the patience.. i am just not finding the info i need...


    For this one, the install txt included said...

    Title: Welcome

Installation:
1. - Copy assets/snippets/ditto to the corresponding location on your site
2. - Either create a new snippet titled Ditto with the contents of snippet.ditto.php or replace the contents of an existing snippet entitled Ditto to upgrade
3. - Repeat step 2 for Reflect

    Seems simple enough, yes?
    But some how i have messed it up.. All i did was copy the folders and the snippit files, like it said to do and now my contact form looks like this =

    I have nooo idea where i went wrong.. i mean its drag and drop...so i am not sure how i messed this up..

    I have a few other things that are confusing me, but, this is priority at the moment..
    If anyone can help at all i would be ever so grateful!

      I think that you may have mixed up item 2. Here you need to go to your manager interface and in Resources -> Manage Resources you need to create a snippet named "Ditto" by selecting the Snippets tab and then the option to create a new snipet. Now copy paste the code from the snippet.ditto.php file into the new snippet in the manager.

      Snippets need the php tags so you need to make sure you have the snippet wrapped in php tags like this <?php snippet code here ?>. A common issue is to either forgeting the tags or having double tags.

      So there are two processes 1) place the ditto folder in the assets; and 2) create a snippet in the manager.

        I didn’t realize that’s how the snippets were made..
        So that alone is a -huge- help... i missed that section when i was poking around.
        Current menu’s do not seem to match the menu’s in any of the documentation i can find so far, so its been very confusing for me

        I have my page back without errors, but its also missing the form items..
        So now i have to figure out how to get the fields back
        and make sure that they send the info to the right place.
