I am evaluating Modx for a startup project backbone and feel it’s good for use as a framework. But now I am a little bit worrid about its documentation and template system. Take for example, from I read it’s very poweful but I find it’s rather hard to grasp from the beginning, I’ve visited Modx Ditto Wiki and Ditto Support site but so far is still a bit lost. Is there any good tutorial on implementing a News system with the ability to group them by levels of category and have easy post, add, rate, comment control? I also need to show latest 10 News, top rated News and most read News etc...
Any feedbacks are appreciated.

Without custom coding, you won’t have access to most read. Start with an install of MODx complete with demo content then go from there, as it contains Ditto. Make sure you understand the basics then layer on the more advanced features one at a time.
