[SOLVED] removeChunk not working in RSS properly (worked around)

Hi all,

I have installed Ditto 2.1 and have an RSS page working on a group of pages which contain a chunk. I’m trying to remove the chunk from the content of the page when I use Ditto for an RSS page but it doesn’t seem to be fully working.

The chunk is removed for the first in the list on the RSS page but the subsequent pages have the chunk on the page.

The chunk contains a couple of snippet calls relevant to each individual page. I have attached a debug list it if helps.

The RSS page is set to uncacheable and the code is entered as [[. Otherwise the snippet code in the chunk is shown as code and not the results.

Although I am unable to reproduce the error, I did notice that on every entry after the first, instead of {{MovieComments}}, you have {{MovieComments}} . Try removing the extra characters and see if that fixes things.

I have removed all the   entries and the end result is the same. sad

Update: I have added another chunk containing just text and the has appeared to be removed. The chunk I am trying to remove contains two snippet calls:

PageViews and Jot.

I hvae change the style of the page to just HTML and not and RSS feed and the text chunk is removed on the entries but the other chunk still shows sad

.

Thanks for your time on having a look on this already Mark. I remember I’ve had this problem before. I think I may need to rethink my chunks.

Does the chunk, which must be removed, happen to have placeholder in it ?

PageViews retrieves the number of hits in Page_Counter DB and Jot is used for page comments.

When the RSS feed page is viewed the details are retrieved for it corresponding details, ie. Page Views for RSS feeds, likewise with the comments.

I have the same problem. ditto 2.1

when i use

[!Jot? &subscribe=`0` &pagination=`10`!]

its working with no problem. but i need a costom output.
add placeholders

[!Jot? &subscribe=`0` &pagination=`10` &placeholders=`1` &output=`0`!]
[+jot.html.comments+]
[+jot.html.form+]
[+jot.html.moderate+]
[+jot.html.navigation+]

forms are removed. but i see jot code...
if i use [[jot?]] - code is hiding, but forms are show.
help :’(

UPDATE:
when i move my {{CommentsChunk}} from content of page to template, the problem has disappeared.

I’m no clearer to understanding what is happening with the removeChunk but I have noticed that if there is enough text in the content (including HTML) then truncation occurs and the chunk I wish to remove is not included with the RSS feed result.

I’m trying to work with this and include some text which doesn’t show in order to deliberately cause content truncation.

Fingers crossed.

After taking some time to run through Ditto and the extenders I know have it doing what I need. I added

&trunc=`1` &truncAt=`{{`

to the Ditto call and it now truncates at the chunk. You can’t use the full chunk name with {{ }} because it adds the contents of the chunk to the call.

If you have multiple chunks in your content then you can go as far as `{{chunkname`.

It’s now working a treat
